I received a message today.

The gentleman will remain unknown.

Not because he is a person of interest.

Although he could be.

I did not ask.

If he is, I do not want to know.

His message went like this:

“Hi Trent, just listen to a guy from Rosetown mentioned he was stopping growing durum; I thought that was the heart of durum country?

Anyway, he was just gonna grow spring wheat.

Any thoughts on spring wheat versus durum values for this fall or next year?

We’ve done really well growing durum east of Regina here, not a hotbed of durum, but we felt we were winning on the price the last couple of years…?”

Well, maybe that is exactly how it went.

I took the risk that you, dear reader, are not a Forensic Linguist, and his identity will remain unknown.

Anyways, enough about Bob.

I think we last discussed the Durum Wheat- Hard Red Spring Wheat Spread in April.

At that time, we anticipated Durum to strengthen relative to Hard Red Spring Wheat.

Our timing was pretty good, as the spread bounced off of previous support almost to the day. (week)?
