Saskatchewan farmland values have never been higher — but what if the next big move is down?

Over the past century, land values have followed a familiar pattern: boom, correction, recovery.

In a recent recorded conversation, I sat down with longtime friend and farmland real estate professional Tim Hammond of Hammond Realty to discuss where we stand in that cycle today.

I applied technical analysis tools—generally used for stocks and commodities—to more than 100 years of inflation-adjusted farmland sales in Saskatchewan.

About Tim Hammond

Tim is the founder, CEO, and broker of Hammond Realty (2006).

Tim grew up on a 3rd generation grain farm southwest of Biggar, SK where his family continues to farm today. He

has 11 years’ experience working with Farm Credit Canada.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (1991 BSA) from the University of Saskatchewan with a major in economics and a minor in soils.

Tim is a long-time member of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists and holds his Professional Agrologist (PAg) designation. Agriculture is in his blood.
