Family Business Succession: Communication is Key with Patti Durand

Patti, an "encourager" by nature, shared insights on family business succession, emphasizing the importance of communication and self-awareness.

Drawing from her experience with hundreds of families, Patti highlighted common challenges, such as the misconception that parents must have a fully formed succession plan before involving their children.

She champions the idea of starting conversations early and empowering successors, noting that gender, age, or business size do not dictate success in family transition.

Patti also discusses the importance of recognizing emotional triggers in difficult conversations.

She advocates for "owning your stuff" and stresses that leadership is a behavior, not a title. The conversation also touched upon the value of introspection and asking the right questions, underscoring that a clear desired outcome is crucial for effective professional guidance.
