This week on The Trent Klarenbach Podcast, I sat down with Cole McBride, a young buddy of mine from back home in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, who now runs Snap Video Analytics in Calgary, blending on-ice skills coaching with video-based hockey IQ work.
Cole played U18 AAA in Tisdale, junior in Camrose in the AJHL and Division I at Merrimack College, then taught grade four in Massachusetts before a conversation on a flight home pulled him into video work.
We talk about teaching one skill at a time, pass creativity, why straight-line speed stops working as kids move up, and building enough trust to coach players hard.
It's a hockey conversation, but the lessons on communication, confidence and building skills that carry over to the next level aren't just for the rink.
