Saskatchewan’s final Crop Report of 2026 put provincial harvest at 99% complete and estimated canola at 38.3 bushels per acre.
January canola fell C$15.10 to C$753.20 per tonne on Nov 5, which Glacier FarmMedia said was the lowest level in four months.
U.S. exporters booked 538,000 tonnes of wheat for 2026/27 in the week ended Oct 29, according to USDA export sales data.
Saskatchewan harvest and yields
Harvest wrapped up across Saskatchewan at 99% complete for the period Oct 20-26, with only a few acres of later-seeded crops still in the field, the Government of Saskatchewan said in its Nov 5 release. Among crops still being finished, canola was 99% harvested, flax 93%, soybeans 99% and canary seed 97%.
Provincial yield estimates included 51.9 bushels per acre for hard red spring wheat, 44.2 for durum, 71.2 for barley, 96.7 for oats and 38.3 for canola, according to the Crop Report page. Canola grades were 81% 1 Canada versus an 83% 10-year average. Durum graded 25% 1 Canada Western versus a 39% 10-year average, and barley graded 16% malt versus a 31% 10-year average.
Glacier FarmMedia’s ICE review said the Saskatchewan canola yield of 38.3 bushels per acre compares with Statistics Canada’s 41.9 bushels per acre and 45.2 a year ago, with Statistics Canada scheduled to update survey-based estimates in early December.
Canola
January canola fell C$15.10 to C$753.20 per tonne on Nov 5, March fell C$12.60 to C$765.10 and May fell C$10.20 to C$773.80, with 94,054 contracts traded, Glacier FarmMedia reported. The review said the January contract moved below its 200-day moving average around C$766 per tonne. Chicago soyoil and soybeans, European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were lower, while crude oil showed some strength after Wednesday’s selloff.
Syngenta’s ICE close, citing DePutter Publishing, said November 2027 canola was down C$9.00 at C$751.70, and that the weakness came despite Wednesday’s announcement that Canada and China had agreed to extend tariff relief on Canadian canola meal through the end of 2028.
