Talking Farmland, Market Psychology & Risk on The Food Professor Podcast

I recently joined Michael LeBlanc and Dr. Sylvain Charlebois on The Food Professor Podcast, presented by Caddle, for a wide-ranging discussion on what’s really happening in Western Canadian farmland markets.

We covered a lot of ground — from the psychology driving land prices to how technical analysis tools like RSI and Elliott Wave patterns can help identify when farmland may be overbought or entering a correction phase.

As a former farmer and now an analyst, I’ve seen how emotion, momentum, and market cycles impact agriculture just as much as they do equities.

My goal through Klarenbach Research has always been to provide transparent, data-driven insights so producers and lenders can make better decisions about risk, valuation, and opportunity.

In this conversation, we also explored:
• The parallels between farming and investing
• Lessons from the 1980s farmland correction
• The importance of independent analysis in ag-finance
• How to separate narrative from numbers in volatile markets

It was a fantastic dialogue about the intersection of data, discipline, and farming reality—and I’m grateful to Michael and Sylvain for the platform.
